Dear Nikki,
|
In this edition we celebrate two very special Birthdays. The 15th Anniversary of Hoffman UK, and our most mature Hoffman Graduate, Betty Hughes, reaches 90 and launches her new book! Read more about these milestone events below, and book tickets to our May 1st Party bash.
We're also very excited to be coming to Scotland at the end of this month. We'll be in Glasgow with an Information Evening for those of you who'd like to know more about the Process and a Reconnection Day for those of you who have done it and would like to know more about life after it!
This month there is also a chance to view the lovely offices where we work in Arundel, as we're offering a Reconnection Day for Hoffman Graduates complete with views of the castle, swans and moat.
There's an interesting article in Therapist Today to give you a flavour of one person's experience of the Process and a chance to read Betty Hughes's new book documenting her journey which enabled her to compare the Process to many different therapeutic experiences.
If you'd like to meet the founder of Hoffman UK, Tim Laurence, he's over from the Gulf this month to give you a flavour of the Process at an introductory afternoon workshop in London. Tickets are going very quickly for this - you can book online below.
If this is a time of year when you're going away with family- have a wonderful time and we're wishing you reasons to celebrate!
Dates for 2010 Processes and Information Evenings are on
our calendar page.

Anger and Forgiveness - Therapy Today
|
In the March issue of Therapy Today magazine Hoffman Graduate, Jayne Allen, talks about why she decided to do the Process:
'I've benefited from my fair share of therapy,
and feel, in a middle-aged sort of way, rather resigned to my problems.
But problems I do have: I struggle with intimacy and tend to isolate
myself...'
'The week provided a rich and unique space for exploration. The sheer
intensity of spending that length of time focussing on myself was
extraordinary. There was nowhere to run and no way of distracting myself
from my feelings: there was no glass of red wine, no telephone, no work
or children or other people's problems to busy myself with. I had to
stay with whatever came up.'After a challenging few days she finally felt: 'I was having fun for what felt like the first time in years. We
reflected on the day later that evening. For me the day had been like
having a mirror held up to show me how serious, how controlling, how
joyless I had become. I understood with new clarity how my behaviour
results in my feeling cut off and alone.' |
Talking to My Selves - Betty Hughes
|
Betty is a much loved part of the Hoffman community and this month she's not only celebrating her 90th birthday but also the launch of her new book, 'Talking to My Selves'. Betty did the Process in 1998 after many years of therapy to deal with religious indoctrination, combined with early
childhood trauma that left her feeling detached from a sense of her real identity. Her story maps the ups and downs of her journey as she reclaims the parts of herself which were created to help her deal with such a difficult upbringing. Her comment on the Process was:
'This total acceptance of me, in my many parts, made the most lasting impression on me. Because of my history, the word 'love' has been deeply distorted. In the Hoffman Process, each person was respected, supported and nurtured. Spirituality was an essential ingredient and the quality of the total experience gave me a sense of being generously loved, affirmed and sent on my way with a bounce in my step. In fact, as a result of this experience I found that I could dance without feeling inhibited.' |
