Hoffman graduate e-newsletter | April 2019
When coach and nutritionist Laura Currie attended the Hoffman Process, she was outwardly in a great place in both her life and career. But inwardly, the story was different...

'To all appearances, everything was rosy... Then, during my meditation classes, I noticed I was feeling anxious. At first, I accepted it – I hadn’t run a group in a while, so a few nerves are normal and healthy – but the longer it went on, the more I started feeling like a fraud. There was I, talking about how to manage stress and anxiety levels whilst pretending that I was totally calm, yet inside I was feeling unsettled and anxious.

I started to feel quite annoyed at myself. I felt stupid that I was running a lovely group, with great students and all I could think was ‘Why do they want to hear what I’VE got to say? What do I even really know anyway?’ This, I found out later on the Hoffman Process, is a major pattern of mine and actually, feeling like a fraud in your career is really very common...'

Trend forecaster, journalist and author James Wallman caused an international sensation in 2013 with the release of his first book, Stuffocation. In examining why 'having everything we thought we wanted isn’t making us happier,' and exploring experientialism - the potential to find serenity 'through experiences rather than stuff' - Stuffocation garnered enormous acclaim as a manifesto for change.

The follow-up, Time And How To Spend It, is released next week. Taking experientialism as a starting point, James now encourages us to put our relationship with time under a microscope, the way we previously did our stuff.

'If the most precious thing we have is time, the most highly prized expertise should be knowing how to spend it well. Yet, busier than ever, do we really understand which experiences bring us joy and success, and which don’t?'

We're relieved to hear that Hoffman makes it into the former category...

Time And How To Spend It can be pre-ordered here .

You can read an interview with James and his wife Thiru on our website here . And if you read The Telegraph or subscribe to it online, you'll also be able to read an excerpt and an interview with James today.
Sometimes described as the 'mini-Process’, Q2 is an intense refresher, exclusively for Hoffman graduates. You'll also work on refining your Process Vision.

You can do Q2 as a couple, with siblings, and with other Hoffman friends. It doesn't matter whether your original Process was in the UK or overseas.

May's Q2 will be led by Matthew Pruen, Mairi Russell and Emma Ferguson.

Venue:  Florence House , East Sussex

As always, please don't listen to visualisations while driving!

March's top tip: We were all young once...
Remember what your teenage years were like; what it felt like for your body to develop and how that was greeted by the world. How close or distant from others you were. How life was at school and home.

What mattered to you at that time? Where did you feel misunderstood?
Take a few moments to reflect on the world young people are now growing up in and how that might feel for them. If you have any young adults in your life, speak to them. See if you can be more empathic to their experience.
