QUICK LINKS

Snowboarder At this time of year many of us are having a break from our usual routine. It can be wonderfully invigorating to take ourselves out of a predictable schedule - the feeling of being alive and present as you whizz down a ski slope or engage in very different conversations to those you normally have, can bring back a zest for life.

That spark can initially rekindle our creativity at work or in our normal routine but often it fades all too quickly. One way we can maintain that heightened state of awareness and rich vein of creativity is to change our habits. It doesn't have to be a huge overhaul, even small alterations can have a lasting result.

One relatively small change that has been shown to make a significant long-term difference to your health, your productivity and your happiness, is to practice mindfulness. This is easily learned and large companies such as Toyota, Starbucks and Google now run mindfulness courses for their employees. In this issue we've interviewed businessman, mindfulness mentor and Hoffman graduate Jon Treanor who has some interesting ideas and experiences to share on mindfulness in the workplace and the role it has to play in this unpredictable financial climate.

If you'd like to bring mindfulness to your relationships, you can try the next Singles or Couples Workshops in London which are open to everyone, whether you have done the Process or not.

Hoffman graduates can join us for the January 9th Support Call which focuses in-depth on Creating Positive Habits or if you want to reconnect with the Hoffman tools, do join us on the next Reconnection Day in London.  If you'd like to use your creative New Year resolve to commit to something for the Spring, we have the Q2 - 3 day refresher, March 1st - 3rd.

Wishing you a mindful month

Mindfulness at Work - Jon Treanor

Jon Treanor
Mindfulness Mentor
Jon has more than 35 years' experience in international senior management with companies such as Paramount Pictures and Sony Corp and he's been mentoring high achievers for over 12 years. After a difficult childhood along with homelessness, Jon has spent the past decade facing his demons and learning from his own experiences.

'I came to mindfulness in 2009 after doing the Hoffman Process and participating in a TV programme called The Big Silence. I found that the two complemented each other and formed my unique approach, mindfulness mentoring. I work along the same principles as Mark Williams, who is Professor of Psychology at Oxford University. His ideas can be found in his insightful book 'Mindfulness: Finding Peace in a Frantic World'.

When I arrived at the Process in 2009 the financial recession was forecast to last two years but now it's clear that the global economy is simply not working. The media is predicting that many of us will have to work until we die - because for some retirement may no longer be an option. Once upon a time you could say; 'it's as good as money in the bank' - well you can't say that now! The moral compass of capitalism is out of kilter and it lacks a sense of wider responsibility. The question we're facing now is: how are businesses...

Our New Hoffman Ireland Co-ordinator

We'd also like to welcome Brenda Duffy who is co-ordinating events in Ireland since Jeremy Kynaston's departure for the Land Down Under.  Brenda did the Process herself at the Old Rectory in 2009 and her caring, supportive approach since she has taken over her new role has been very much appreciated by everyone at Hoffman.

You can meet Brenda at our next Information Evening in Dublin on Friday April 12th, or if you're a graduate, we're running a Reconnection Day on Saturday 13th April. The next Process in Ireland is July 12th - 19th.

Support Call - Creating Positive Habits - Wednesday 9th January                            Back to Top
Habits that are good for you...

This month's Support Call on Wednesday 9th January, 7.30pm - 8.45pm is focused on Creating Positive Habits and is led by Hoffman teacher, Tom Laughton.

What new, everyday habits do you want to form the structure of your life? New year is a time for a practical and spiritual reassessment, and a great moment to let go of old patterns by practicing new behaviours. This call with Hoffman teacher Tom Laughton will give some muscle to your new year's resolutions and will help you to:

 * see how you can release yourself more from old patterns
 * help you define the new behaviours you want
 * avoid some of the pitfalls of new year's resolutions
 * set yourself realistic goals
 * create a plan for the new behaviour to become a habit

"We are what we repeatedly do." Aristotle

Led by Hoffman teacher Tom Laughton, these calls are ideal when you finish your post Process Support Groups and want to reconnect to the Process tools. We also welcome Hoffman graduates who've been 'out of the loop' and want a fresh perspective. In short - if you've done the Process - wherever you live - this one's for you..!

Q2, 3 Day Graduate Intensive - March 1st - 3rd - Friday to Sunday                            Back to Top
Hoffman Q2
Are you missing the Hoffman connection.?

The Q2 allows you to build upon your Process work, providing an opportunity to explore some of the areas that you wish to investigate further. It enables you to focus on a particular relationship or challenge as well as deepening your Process experience. Unlike the Process, where you have so much to deal with, the Q2 gives you the gift of focusing on the present and how patterns are affecting you now.

Hoffman graduate, author and journalist, Lesley Garner has been kind enough to share her experience of how the Q2 has supported her in the years since her Process.  "No matter how successful we are at incorporating the optimism and drive for positive change which follows the Process, there comes a time when, ground down a bit too far by daily life, we wonder how we can get the magic back. Luckily there is always the Q2. This is only open to Hoffman graduates because it builds on the work we have already done but, like the Process, it's full of surprises. I have done four now and I am convinced they put something in the water because I never remember what happened on the one before. Like the Process it is full of surprises and it builds on the core elements of emotional expression and play. What I like is that the Hoffman team keep changing and updating it, revising techniques we might have forgotten but throwing in the unexpected and joyful. We change all the time and the Q2 is a great way of recharging ourselves to meet new surprises and create new visions." Lesley Garner

Remember that you can do the Q2 with partners, friends, siblings or Process buddies and the preparatory work can be done in your lunch break! There are a few places left, so book soon if you'd like to join us.
