What are the high points of your day so far?
It may seem a trivial question but noticing what fulfils you is key to getting the most out of your life, yet it's something that most of us consider too rarely. As philanthropist Rose Kennedy said: 'Life isn't a matter of milestones but of moments'. Once you identify activities that bring you joy and satisfaction, you can create more of them. It's all too easy to put off things that make you happy; downtime can be swallowed up by chores or other people's agendas. Perhaps you imagine you'll spend more time with loved ones or pursue a delightful hobby when you're on holiday or retired. But why wait? You can experience more happiness every day simply by doing more of what you find truly fulfilling.
If adverts are to be believed, you need to do something or have something in order to be happy but studies show that it's the other way around. When you're happy you're far more likely to attract fulfilling relationships and satisfying, meaningful work. So take a moment each day to note what warms your heart or lights your fire. If it's an aspect of your work, how can you expand that role? If it's being with those you love, explore fun ways you can spend more time with them.
The issue of living a fulfilling life is addressed this month by Hoffman graduate, author and Chaplain to Her Majesty the Queen in Scotland, Norman Drummond, who has kindly contributed an extract from his inspirational book Spirit of Success. If you'd like to raise your awareness and learn what makes you happy you could try our Introduction Day on Saturday October 18 or come to our Information Evening on Tuesday September 16.
If you're a Hoffman graduate we also have a Graduate Support Call - Wednesday September 17th on the theme of Parenting Teens.
Wishing you a happy and fulfilling month

Hoffman Article - Spirit of Success - Norman Drummond Back to Top
|
As a celebrated international speaker and author, Norman Drummond's life and work embodies a personal commitment to leadership and to developing talent in others. After doing the Hoffman Process in 2001 he comments:
'The trilogy of what it means to be 'loving and loved and loveable' has been of deep and lasting help not only to further members of my family but also to the now over 50 clients and friends to whom I have readily and regularly recommended the Hoffman Process throughout the intervening years.'
The Spirit of Success - Where Would You Look For Your Soul? In the revised edition of Norman's best-selling book 'The Spirit of Success' he says: 'Too many of the people I see in workplaces are simply functioning - getting through the day, covering their backs and following the company line. The board rooms and offices of the Western world are full of fragmented souls who no longer know who they are and who have lost their purpose.......

Support Call - Parenting Teens Back to Top |
This month's Support Call - Wednesday 17 September is Parenting Teens and is led by Supervising Hoffman Teacher, Matthew Pruen - 7.30pm - 8.45pm.
There's a kind of knowing look that many people have about teenagers. Eyes cast upwards as if to say 'It'll pass when they grow up'. And yet, the teenage years are a moment in our lives when, for the first time, we are truly independent enough to risk expressing anger.
Even in the healthiest families, by that stage in life, young adults are starting to notice that they are no longer as dependent on their parents as they once were. With this awareness
