What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a powerful system for understanding our personalities; how did we come to be the way we are? How can we overcome the main obstacles to our growth? And what are the opportunities that will bring us greater success?
Like Hoffman, the Enneagram offers a bridge between psychology and spirituality. It acknowledges the biases of personality that might have been deepened in childhood, and it encourages both our own self-awareness as well as understanding and having compassion for others.
Tim Laurence has been teaching the Hoffman Process for over 30 years. During that time, he also completed his Enneagram Professional Training in the USA, and has taught workshops on The Enneagram both in person and online. This system is often used as a tool among Hoffman Process facilitators and workshop leaders, to highlight different perspectives and to better understand the motivators and potential traps of those we come in contact with.
Join Tim for three specially-designed Tuesday Talks exploring the different points of view and communication styles of the nine Enneagram Types.
We will cover how each Type sees the world and how they relate to others. Each evening takes three of the Types, grouped by a common thread – either reactivity, their positivity, or their competence. Knowing yourself and understanding others will give far clearer communication as well as intimacy with those closest to you.
- Reactive (4, 6 & 8)
- Positive (7, 2 & 9)
- Competent (1, 3 & 5)
Hoffman’s regard for the Spiritual Self or Essence, along with its thorough covering of behaviour patterns is an ideal match for the Enneagram. What the Enneagram brings is a highly detailed map of both the patterns and the Essence underneath;
If you’ve ever thought: “I just don’t get why people don’t behave reasonably like me’ or ‘I feel like such a misfit’, these evenings will provide a load more answers.
’The Unexamined Life is not worth living’ – Socrates.
No prior knowledge of the Enneagram is needed. You can use these three workshops as an opportunity to explore all Types, and then work out which one you are. If you already know your Type, you will benefit from deeper understanding and the opportunity to be part of broader discussions into each Type.
There are some links at the bottom of this page that might be helpful in guiding your choice, and you can also read a Q&A with Tim here.
These webinars are open to everyone, whether you have done the Process or not.
Dates: Tuesday 18 May, Tuesday 15 June & Tuesday 19 July
Times: Each workshop will run from 7.30pm and finish at 9pm
Cost: £15 per workshop
Platform: Zoom

You don’t need prior knowledge of the Types to attend these workshops, but you might be tempted to do an online test to get an idea. If you do, please still keep an open mind, as they can quite often give a misleading Type diagnosis. And if you are interested in finding out more about the Enneagram in general:
