'One of the great learnings I took away from the Hoffman Process was identifying my own behavioural patterns and how these were leading me to have imbalanced relationships. One of my most dominant patterns was the need to caretake other people and fix problems. These were patterns I’d been taught as a child, prioritising the needs and feelings of others above my own. As a result, I would step in to support and take care of others and then feel resentful when that wasn’t reciprocated.
During the Process, I learnt to identify and understand my feelings so that I could make authentic choices and voice what I genuinely wanted or needed. It was also a great relief to see that I wasn’t responsible for everyone else’s feelings. With that realisation, the challenge was to be honest with others about how I felt and to be OK with the consequences. I learnt that a healthy relationship is one in which I can be the real me and not one in which I feel the need to suppress my true thoughts and feelings.
The Process had a huge impact on my work as a career coach, supporting others as they navigate their careers and learn to leverage their strengths to achieve their goals. I published my first book ‘Maximum You’ in December, to give readers the tools to embrace authentic living and empower them to tune into their true desires and needs'.

Thank you to psychotherapist and Hoffman grad Will Adolphy for sharing his Hoffman experience on the Inside a Mind podcast recently. Here's a (spoiler free!) excerpt;
‘The way I describe it is waking up every day and then walking into tension, arguments - you know, that tension at the dinner table? Just holding that on a chronic level and a consistent level over time, it builds. They call it attritional trauma or ‘small t’ trauma; this buildup of storing resentment or emotions or storing anger which then becomes resentment.
That had accumulated, and so I had to spend some time away when I was in recovery from my dad and my mum and I had to go into a place where I had to deal with all the rage, the trapped rage that I had.
So I did something called the Hoffman Process and it's this renowned retreat that really became a container for me to express what had been unexpressed in me for so long… I was able to access this kind of trapped anger or rage - complete rage - that I had in me that I didn't even know I'd had in me and that's when I realised about stored energy, how it's real…It’s pretty crazy, it's pretty wild - but it was one of the most profound moments within my journey of release and then moving through that rage...’
