Searching for acceptance: by senior whisky specialist Michael Green

'For some people, it takes years to feel ready for Hoffman. For me, it was around six weeks from finding out about the Process to attending what would be a life-changing and life-saving residential week.

I'd been feeling low for a while - I just wasn’t myself. I was struggling with my self-esteem, imposter syndrome and the feeling that I just wasn’t good enough. Changes at work heightened my anxiety. I felt out of my depth, overwhelmed, and started displaying symptoms of depression. I became despondent and incapable of completing projects and tasks at which I was more than proficient.

My son noticed and expressed his concern to my best friend that I wasn’t myself. Over a coffee, my friend told me how much he cherished our friendship and asked me to talk to him. That’s when I broke down. I told him about the intrusive thoughts I'd been having and that I was feeling depleted, burnt out, and a useless fraud.

After several heart-to-hearts, he mentioned a former colleague who had been in a similar situation. He'd tried several different forms of counselling and therapy and had then attended the Hoffman Process - it had changed his life.

I started to research the Process and decided that not only did I need to change, but I wanted to. I hadn't had any therapy or counselling previously, but felt this was for me.'

Awakening my true Spiritual Self: with Trusts & Foundations Manager Karena Drego

Karena was working in business development for CAFOD when she decided to apply for a Hoffman Process scholarship.

What prompted you to do the Process?

During and after the pandemic, I was having trouble handling the challenges life had dealt me and was going through a particularly rough patch when I first heard of the Hoffman Process. My brother-in-law, who had done the Process in Australia about 10 years previously, recommended that I sign up. After doing some online research on the Process, I decided to attend a Hoffman UK information sessionover Zoom, which helped answer some of my questions and was the catalyst to me signing up.

How did you hear about Hoffman scholarships?

I heard about the scholarship at the online information session... At the time, I worked with a charity that focuses on alleviating poverty brought about by environmental and climate change. I saw that the Process could benefit my work as well as my personal life, so I decided to apply.

What would you say to anyone thinking about going on the Process?

The Hoffman Process will probably be the best gift you can give yourself. I see the Process as a tornado that challenged and shook up how I view myself and the world - it has the ability to challenge the negative and leave a trail of love and happiness in its wake. The Process has shown me how to free myself from negativity and shame, be empathic instead of confrontational and chart a path towards my goals. I’m now more grounded, empathic and hopeful for the future.'

This Sunday in London - Introduction Day with Serena

For more information and to book, click here

Hoffman Introduction Days are one-day workshops led by members of the Hoffman facilitating team. They’re hands-on, using techniques from the Process itself, so whether you go on to do the full seven-day course or not, you will definitely learn some useful skills and practical tools to help you with your day-to-day life.

Our Introduction Day this weekend will be led by Supervising Hoffman Facilitator and Managing Director, Serena Gordon (pictured). Serena is one of the co-founders of Hoffman UK, with nearly three decades of experience of the tools and techniques – so if you’ve got questions, here’s a great opportunity to ask them in person.

If you’re already interested in signing up to a Process date, the day will provide the chance to try a mini-taster before you commit. It can also be an illuminating workshop for partners/family members of people who have completed the Process, as it gives you an insight into what they have learned.

What’s more, if you do go on to do the residential Hoffman Process within 12 months of an Introduction Day, you’ll receive £100 discount on your future Process fee.

Blowing the Cover off My Defended Heart: interview with Supervising Hoffman facilitator Roxy Hayde

To listen to the podcast, click here

Lovely to hear Supervising Hoffman facilitator Roxy Hayde being interviewed by Drew Horning on Hoffman US Love's Everyday Radius podcast series recently. From the episode info:

'Roxy came to the Hoffman Process after a lifetime of trying to hold it all together behind a deeply defended heart.

At a very young age, Roxy knew that to feel safe she would have to learn how to control everything and everyone around her and not let herself feel vulnerable. Through the Process, she dropped into a very soft place and came to parent herself in a way she’d never known. Roxy and her emotional child have fostered a beautiful relationship. She tells Drew how her inner child is often present with her when she teaches the Process.

Roxy describes her deep fear of vulnerability and how she hid herself behind the archetype of a strong, successful woman. That kept her from having real connections with the people in her life. Now, she connects deeply with people and also connects people in marriage as a wedding celebrant. Roxy is a celebrant who celebrates love with an open, vulnerable, radiant heart.'
