Create your own happy ending - with writer Elaine Kingett
Award-winning writer, journalist, teacher and writing mentor
Elaine Kingett fell for her Prince Charming when she was an unhappy teenager in a violent home environment. When she found herself widowed after their long and happy marriage, her childhood demons resurfaced with a vengeance. It was time to rescue herself from the sabotaging patterns that were threatening to derail her.

After doing the Hoffman Process, she’s now not only living her own happy ending but extending it to others at the writing workshops that she holds in the UK and Europe.

'At 17, I would have run away with anyone, I was so desperate to escape the conflict and abuse at home. Luckily, my husband Jerry Kingett was a good man. His death from leukaemia after 32 years together was definitely not what we, or our three children, had on the menu.
Without my cornerstone, I fell apart....'

There's no magic wand but we can still cast a spell...
Over the years we have seen many people come to the Process having experienced health challenges. Whether pre or post Process, there are times we'd all love to wave a magic wand and make the pain disappear. The Hoffman Process isn't a magic wand, but what it does offer is more practical and long-lasting support through use of the tools we teach on the course. There's comfort to be gained from a new level of self-awareness and checking in with ourselves, especially our bodies, is an essential step on our path to recovery.

We caught up with three Hoffman graduates who have battled with and overcome cancer and have put their wonderful energy into helping others...

Ben Shuckburgh: Pictured top
A great example is former Hoffman Teacher, Ben Shuckburgh, who's celebrating 10 years since his own diagnosis. Ben has always been a passionate dirt bike racer and has just celebrated coming first in the over 50s class (and second overall) in the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. He's been raising money for the Oracle Cancer Trust and you can and see photos of Ben's adventure on his instagram #benshuckburgh.
You can read Ben's inspiring story here and you can donate here.

Saskia Lichtenstern: Pictured middle
Author Saskia Lichtenstern's breast cancer experience is an inspiring article in our current Hoffman magazine. Saskia focuses on life after recovery. Read more about her Five Pearls project here, where she invites fellow breast cancer survivors to contribute their stories . You can also follow Saskia's blog: Sex, Cancer & Rock 'n Roll here .

Aidan Campbell: Pictured third
Another Hoffman Graduate who's been fundraising is Aidan Campbell. Since he 'put his affairs in order' after his diagnosis in 2007, Aidan has since raised so much for Marie Curie that he was awarded the British Empire Medal in the 2017 Honours list. Read Aidan's remarkable story here.
Dr Gabor Maté in Ireland in June
Trauma and addiction specialist Dr Gabor Maté is one of the keynote speakers at the International Trauma Recovery Summit in Belfast on the 27/28 June. He follows this with a 2-day workshop in Cork on June 30- July 1.

Hoffman graduate, Dr Maté will be presenting a keynote speech in Belfast: When the Body says No: The cost of hidden stress, looking at the connection between the ability to express emotions and Alzheimer’s.

His workshop in Cork provides two days of talks and interactive sessions including conversations on The Biology of Loss: What Happens When Attachments Are Impaired and How To Foster Resilience. These workshops are not to be missed and you can find out more via his website: drgabormate.com

Gabor, pictured here with Hoffman teacher, Mairi Russell has given us this quote about the Process;
' The Hoffman Process is a highly sophisticated yet essentially simple means of transforming one’s relationship with the most important person in our lives: ourselves.'
Stuck in a little rut? Join us on the Q2, June 8-10
Still plagued by problem patterns, post Process? Has something new popped up that needs the Hoffman treatment? Do you have unfinished work to do with surrogates, personal relationships or work issues?

Sometimes described as a 'mini-Process’, the Q2 is a three-day refresher exclusively for Hoffman graduates that gives you the space to reconnect with your Hoffman experience, to brush up your tools and and to work on any new issues. The additional benefit of the Q2 is that, unlike the Process, you can do it as a couple, with siblings, or with other Hoffman friends.

Our June Q2 will be led by Hoffman Teachers Holger and Emma and will take place at Florence House. The next one is November 23-25.

Venue: Florence House, Southdown Rd, Seaford, East Sussex, BN25 4JS, United Kingdom

Let your Quadrinity dance: 30th June
'If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance' George Bernard Shaw

PS these dancing Lemurs are just here for fun, they don't represent what you will be doing...
Our Hoffman 5Rhythms  session offers the chance to work through any current issues by using your body to release the tensions and stresses while being guided and supported by other Hoffman graduates. These sessions are led by our own 5Rhythms instructor and Hoffman graduate, Catherine Gaynor.

There are no steps to learn, instead, we use music as medicine, invoking feelings that are exhilarating, cathartic, illuminating, joyful and fun!

You're welcome to come on your own, with a Hoffman buddy, or you can bring a friend (even if they haven't done the Process).

Date: Saturday 30 June, 7-9pm. £15
Venue: Battersea Yoga Centre, London SW11

Diving Deep with Hoffman UK founder Tim Laurence
Find out more about Wild Quest here
Listen to Tim's podcast about the Process here
Tim Laurence is diving deeper than usual this summer. From July 1 - August 18, he's exploring the waters off Bimini in the Bahamas, where he's helping people to swim with wild dolphins. Take a vacation from your usual self....

Tim's keen to see Hoffman Graduates out there so he's arranged a $100 discount for any Hoffie who books with Wild Quest using the code Hoffgrad before June 30. (Your arrival can be after June 30).

'It's the clearest water I've ever been in and wonderfully warm. In the six weeks I was there earlier in the season we saw dolphins every day. The highlight is when they swim up and look right at you or sonar click on your body to check you out. There's really nothing like it as a nature-induced peak experience. It should be on everyone's bucket list.

Wild Quest guests come in groups of 20, share rooms and eat (very healthy) communal meals. There are also some group sharing circles, great dance music and time for reflection. Sound familiar?’ Tim Laurence, Hoffman UK Founder
Uniting the World with Hoffman International Conference
May 14-17 was Hoffman UK's opportunity to host our 2018 Hoffman International Conference. Every two years, Hoffman Institute owners and teachers from around the world meet to discuss the Process, new teachings, hear from expert speakers and to share best practices and celebrate. It's also an opportunity to commit to the vision to spread peace in the world, one person at a time.

With so many languages and cultures represented it was a wonderful reminder that it's our shared aims and common humanity that bind us together.

If you have friends around the world who you think would like to find out more you can share the  Hoffman International website with them.

June's Top Tip: Forgiveness is Freedom
We've all made mistakes and we know that others have made them too. Welcome to the human race! To take charge of our lives, we need to forgive ourselves for our past mistakes and forgive others for theirs. If we have been hurt or hurt others, we need to take a radical look at forgiving and letting go so we wipe the slate clean and move on.

Some Hoffman tools help with this:
  • Dialogue between your 12-year-old Emotional Child and the 12-year-old Emotional Child of the person you want to forgive.
  • Emotional child and Intellect Truce.
  • Closure - ceremony of Integration Visualisation.
  • Create you own letting-go fire ritual, so long as it's safe.

Be creative and, above all, set yourself free...
