'Life Without a Tie', by leadership coach and author Ray Martin

Ray Martin is an award-winning business leader, a prolific charity fundraiser and an accomplished coach and mentor. His memoir, Life Without A Tie is published this week, and includes a chapter dedicated to the Hoffman Process, which he says ‘changed my life to a huge extent’ when he did it in 2010.

'At the age of 43, I was living the dream: married to a beautiful and successful woman, together we had built a small, thriving, mission-driven consulting business that we were proud of. For my work as CEO, the Daily Telegraph presented me with their prestigious ‘Business Leader of the Year’ Award. We lived in our favourite part of West London and were about to start a family. If you’re getting a sense of foreboding, you’re spot on, as things took a sharp, unexpected turn.

Within six months of the awards ceremony, my wife announced that she was leaving our marriage and our business. In a matter of days, my painstakingly designed and diligently created life collapsed. To make matters worse, my father also passed away... My long-held dreams of a business and a together-forever family had imploded. Through events outside of my control, I was catapulted out of my identity as a husband and business leader, into a highly unappealing new identity that felt like a lone survivor in an apocalyptic movie...'

If you're hoping to do the Hoffman Process before the end of this year, our advice is to book soon, as we've only a handful of paces remaining. You'll find availability (and our Spring/Summer 2023 dates) on our website here.

As well as spending more time at Broughton Sanctuary in Yorkshire (pictured) and Bore Place in Kent, next year we'll be introducing a new Process venue, Charney Manor in Oxfordshire.

Broughton offers centuries of history, sumptuous furnishings and exquisite surroundings, while Bore Place and Charney Manor offer charms of their own (including single accommodation to all participants). Prices will vary depending on venue and room option.

NEW! Finding Love: weekend workshop in Winchester

For more info and to book, click here

Looking for love can be a vulnerable and testing experience. Expectations – family, social, and our own – can conspire to spin us into a vicious cycle of shame-beliefs, fears and repeating negative patterns. But by examining and challenging those patterns in a compassionate light, and understanding that our past doesn't need to dictate our present, we can improve our understanding of why we make the choices we do.

Finding Love is a two-day relationship workshop for individuals. Over the weekend, in a supportive, confidential setting, you'll gain clarity on your relationship priorities, increase your capacity for intimacy and leave with a  range of tools for more effective understanding of self and others.

All are welcome - you don't need to have done the Hoffman Process or be in a relationship to attend this workshop.

Dates: 26 & 27 November

Venue: The Pump House, Winchester

Cost: £300
